How to Play Baseball 101

Everything you need to know to start playing โ€” batting, pitching, earning Pesos, and building your roster.

๐ŸŽฎ Getting Started

  1. Pick your game length. From the Home screen, choose 3, 6, or 9 innings before you start.
  2. Choose your lineup. Pick from your unlocked roster of players โ€” each has different Contact, Power, Fielding, and Speed ratings.
  3. Play ball. You'll alternate between batting (your turn to score) and pitching (defending against the opponent).

โšพ Batting: Timing Is Everything

When you're at bat, a marker slides back and forth across a timing bar. Tap or click at the right moment to swing โ€” where the marker lands when you swing determines how well you hit the ball.

Faster pitchers move the marker more quickly, so tougher opponents demand sharper timing.

๐ŸฅŽ Pitching: Choose Your Pitch

When your team is on defense, you select which pitch to throw before every batter. Each pitch type behaves differently:

๐Ÿ”ด Fastball
High velocity, straight path. Hard for batters to miss if well-placed, but predictable.
๐Ÿ”ต Curveball
Slower, with a sharp downward break. Great for catching batters off guard.
๐ŸŸข Changeup
Looks like a fastball out of your hand but arrives much slower, disrupting the batter's timing.

Mixing up your pitch selection makes it harder for opponents to predict your timing โ€” the same logic works against you when you're facing the CPU's pitcher.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Earning and Spending Pesos

Pesos are Baseball 101's in-game currency. You start with a small balance and earn more every time you finish a game โ€” win or lose, though winning pays significantly more.

Game LengthWin Reward (approx.)
3 innings~150 Pesos
6 innings~300 Pesos
9 innings~550 Pesos

Reward totals scale up further against tougher opponents. Spend your Pesos in two places:

๐Ÿ† Building Your Roster

Baseball 101's roster spans dozens of legendary players, each with their own position, stats, and unlock cost. Some unlock automatically once you've won enough games; others can be unlocked directly with Pesos from the Roster screen.

Once you've saved up enough Pesos, you can also design and add a fully custom player โ€” pick their name, look, and starting position, and they'll join your roster permanently.

โ“ Frequently Asked Questions

Is Baseball 101 free to play?

Yes. Every player, upgrade, and unlock is earned by playing โ€” there's nothing to buy.

Do I need to create an account or download anything?

No. Baseball 101 runs entirely in your browser. Just open the game and start playing.

Will I lose my progress if I close the browser?

Your progress (Pesos, unlocked players, upgrades) is saved in your browser for that device. Playing on a different browser or device starts a fresh game.

What's the difference between 3, 6, and 9 innings?

Shorter games are quicker and pay out fewer Pesos per win; longer games take more time but pay out more.

How do I get better at batting?

Watch the pitch type before you swing โ€” curveballs and changeups arrive slower than fastballs, so the timing marker will reach the sweet spot later. Practicing against easier opponents first helps you learn the rhythm.
